The Douro Valley, known for its stepped vineyards on the hills facing the river, has a unique landscape that makes this region one of the most picturesque in Portugal. This two-day itinerary has a perfect balance between wine tasting, cultural visits, and Douro Valley’s natural beauty.

Itinerary
Departure at 09h00 to Douro Valley, one of Portugal’s most famous regions, for its gorgeous landscapes. We’ll make a short stop in the lovely city of Amarante, by the Tâmega River, with its quaint brigdes, like São Gonçalo’s. We then proceeed to theDouro Valley, UNESCO heritage listed for its history, cultural significance, and beauty. Amazingly beautiful with its stepped hills down to the river, this isa a Port Wine region and was, in 1756, the world’s first demarcated wine region.
We will arrive in Pinhão, a small village with a small train station known for its unique painted tiles, depicting local working traditions and landscapes. You will know the river riding a traditional “Rabelo” boat, enjoying a unique viewpoint, and visit a winery with its cellars, where you’ll tast the wonderful Douro wines along with local delicacies, all in a marvellous scenery . At night, take a walk along the river shoreand have adinner in a tradiotional restaurant. Overnight in Douro Valley.
After breakfast, departure for a guided tour of Quinta da Pacheca, a beautiful winery where you will taste its great wines. Moving on to Lamego, you will know the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, a truly iconic place. You may, if you feel like it, descend the 686 steps of the baroque stairway, through several chapels, statues and painted tiles depicting bible scenes, down to Lamego’s historical centre and its lovely tree-lined avenue, ideal for a relaxed stroll along its shops, cafes and restaurants.
Free time for lunch. Try regional specialties like veal and roasted lamb, but also codfish, duck rice, or lamprey, among many others. Return to Porto, end of our services.
